| ❝ | Tiberius Avon-Soong History: After his third attempt to build an android (including the loss of Lal), Data almost decided to quit. Though one day Avon was still met with Data presenting him an android's head over his morning coffee. An android that looked remarkably like Avon. Together they designed a series of protocols that mirrored aspects of both Avon and Data's personalities, though after activation Tiberius Avon-Soong (a name that he wears with pride) was closer to his human parent, especially as he couldn't understand or display emotion. He picked up a few bad habits, including the tendency to accumulate wealth using his observant nature and knowledge of probability mechanics in gambling, though he never really knew what to do with the money outside of keep it as a tally of his accomplishments. He was also more inclined to violence than Data was, not using it without due cause but more willing to if he found himself or his family at risk, though he didn't share Avon's tendency toward argument or debate. He was also very interested in science, volunteering to help in many of his parents and any of their friends’ experiments. He developed real enthusiasm for it once he progressed to the point of having his emotion chip installed (which, as predicted, induced a partial cascade failure, but he survived as he was being carefully monitored). About a year afterward, during an experiment involving an ion storm, an electrical surge deactivated him and the shuttle he was on. Once he had completed repair diagnostics and came to, he was in a completely unrecognizable part of space. His drifting shuttle was met by the dimension hopping ship of another android. Recognizing tell-tale elements of his make-up as being strikingly similar to his own, as well as Varsh's knowledge of the name Soong, he was able to determine that the mild, curious android was his brother. Though he couldn't tell if it was from a previous or later date, considering Varsh's awareness of time and ability to travel. But rather than leaving his milder brother on his own to roam in search of some place to belong, he went with him to "keep an eye on him". | ❞ |
